Jacquelyn Krones has a MA in Social Psychology with an academic focus on in-group bias, tokenism and heterosexual attraction. She also has over 20 years of experience in technology companies from startups to large enterprises assisting them to uncover insights into people’s needs, desires and motivations to position technology most helpfully within social systems. She is currently Principal for Ethics in the AI Perceptions and Mixed Reality Group at Microsoft where she leads efforts to identify and address ethical issues in the development of AI solutions for enterprise customers, based on Microsoft’s values and framework.

We talk with Jacquelyn about the definitions and components of AI and ethics at Microsoft ;  how she works with ethics within an enterprise solution team, transitioning from high level ethics principles to day to day product work. We cover metrics around ethics, the connection between ethics and consumer trust and governance. Lastly we talk about the value of a social scientist and how to approach the corporate ethics field when looking for employment.
